Ellie's 1st Birthday

Ok so I know this is late but better late than never..lol

Last year on May 9th, 2010 I was sitting in a hospital spending my mother's day preparing to welcome my little girl into the world. This pregnancy was much different than with my son, and I had already been in the hospital for a about a week due to preeclampsia. I was anxious for her to come into the world but also nervous as I was being induced 3 weeks earlier than her due date.

I spent most of the day talking and watching tv with Titus and my mom, waiting for the doctor to come induce me after she was done with her mother's day lunch and time with her family. I kept thinking how cool it was to have a baby ON mother's day and also how much I wished I was out eating lunch somewhere rather than the low sodium nasty hospital food I was given...blech!

Finally the nurses and doctor came in and got things started. I walked, chatted and was handling the contractions well ... watching a movie with my mom and Titus... things were going great. When I couldn't take the pain anymore I had my epidural and relaxed a little more....but not for long! We were blessed with a beautiful little girl Mother's Day evening around 9:30.

She was tiny... only 5lbs 13 oz whereas her big brother had been 9lbs 3oz... and her first week of life was difficult but she was a strong one!

Only two days after her birth (and one day after we left the hospital!) we ended up in the ER with her because she was lethargic and not eating. She was poked and prodded by crazy people in the ER who had no NICU and no medical equiment for a baby her size. Mommy and Daddy were VERY upset and finally after much work we got her sent to Toledo Children's Hospital.

When the nurses from Toledo arrived in the ambulance and started taking charge of the situation, Titus and I breathed a sigh of relief... thankful for people who FINALLY knew what they were doing! We followed the ambulance to Toledo and stayed with here there for 3 days. She was severely jaundiced and dehydrated and it hurt us to see her hooked up to all those wires and have that IV in her little arm! But I knew she was getting the care she needed for that I was thankful!

The staff was wonderful to us and we were so blessed.

Ever since then she has grown in leaps and bounds...And now she is 1 year old!

Her birthday fell on a monday this year, so we had her party the saturday before. Her birthday party was a baby minnie theme and I made her her minnie cake and smash cake

And because I like to go all out for my kids birthday parties, I had to make her a dress (with the help of her great grandma Dee!) and a matching headband.

She started getting tired before she even opened presents as you can see here:

But as soon as we brought out the food she perked right up!
She is saying " you can put that food right....here mama!"
After lunch it was present time!! I think she got enough clothes to last her through the fall and beyond between great auntie joanna, uncle jeff and grandparents!
She also got a few cute toys which she adores...

....she especially loves the open and close eyes on her baby doll!

Then it was cake time!! She didn't quite get it and started to eat the plate.... yum?
Oh wait.. I am supposed to eat this round pink thing ON the plate...
ok... this is kind of yummy...

And then the hands were all in it!
Squishing it through her fingers and stuffing her face. She ate every last piece of that smash cake and did she ever enjoy it!
She had a great party with people who adore her. Then she was ready for a nap, but not before mommy could get one picture with the birthday girl!

We love you Ellie Boo! Happy 1st birthday!

Love, Daddy, Mommy, and Brother T.J.

Ellie's 8 Month Photo Shoot

These were taken 1 week before Ellie's 9 month "birthday" :) All photos were taken by J.Lynn Imagery.

These are my favorites!

This is the classic "look" Ellie gives people when they are trying to get her to smile or talk to them and she doesn't wanna..lol..
Beads!! YUM!!
I made this hat for Jen to use in her studio :) I love Ellie's smirk!! And the poochy lip... she didn't want to cooperate and smile for us. We had to work for every smile Jen captured!
This is my absolute favorite. Her sweetness is shining through :)
TEETH!! :D

*All hats and the black headband were made by me over at Soft & Sweet Boutique. "Like" us on facebook for new product updates and giveaways!

All About Ellie

Ellie's first word was "mama"... but she since she didn't associate me with the word when she said it, I guess I have to say her first actual word was " da da". :P Titus will hold her and she looks at him and says " da da da da da!" :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ellie received her first tooth the third weekend of December 2010. She was very irritable that weekend. I had left her with Titus' mom and sister's that friday so I could go help out at T.J 's school and Cathy said she cried and cried pretty much the whole time. Nothing was able to satisfied her. Now, she has seperation anxiety when mommy and daddy try to leave her places, but I was surprised at how upset she was! It didn't dawn on me that maybe she was cutting a tooth! LOL
She was still pretty fussy on Saturday and I was at my wit's end on how to help her. On Sunday she was back to her normal happy self and while feeding her that morning I noticed something white on her gums. Then it dawned on me that she had been cutting her first tooth!! No wonder she was so fussy! :P
She got her second tooth around Christmas.... I guess all she wanted for Christmas was her two front (bottom) teeth.. haha :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ellie gets the biggest kick out of T.J. She loves him to death and with him being sick this week she hasn't quite known why he hasn't come to play with her. He will talk to her from across the room and get her to giggle, but he hasn't come over and tickled or hugged and kissed her. She kinda stares at him and reaches for him ... she wants to play with him so badly!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ellie hasn't mastered the crawling or sitting up yet. She can sit up pretty well for a while but then she either starts rocking back and forth and flops over or she reaches to get something and tips over. :) She is very good with the rolling all over the place and scootching herself in reverse. One day last week had her in the floor in the basement and I went to check the fire. When I came back I could hear her, but I couldn't see her anywhere! She had rolled herself under the chair we have downstairs and it has a the dust ruffle around the bottom. She is just under there babbling, so i bend down and said peek-a-boo and pulled up the ruffle. She gave me this HUGE grin and said something to the effect of " NAH BAH OOH NAH BAH!" LOL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She is starting to use her gums and two teeth to chew things. She loves eating teething biscuits and Baby Mum Mum Rice Rusks. She also likes to chew on cold baby carrots. She loves bananas unless it is a real banana. She loves the baby banana jar food, banana cereal, and banana biscuits, but you try and mash up a real banana and give it her and she gags and makes all sorts of crazy faces!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ellie likes to suck on her sucky ( pacifier) backwards. She turns it around to where the handle is in her mouth and nipple is sticking out and sucks on it like normal. I keep telling her that is not the way to do it and I turn it around. She smiles at me pulls it out and goes back to sucking on the handle. Already being ornery! LOL
( When TJ was little he liked to turn his sucky sideways and stick it in his mouth. Then he would sit there with spit drooling down the sides of his cheeks and smile at you with it stuck in his mouth sideways. So both of my children have done silly things with their sucky's :P)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have no clue how much she weigh's now but she has a appt on the 19th of this month, so I will fill you in with more updates then. I will tell you this.. she is solid! :)

Ellie and Her Crawl and Flutter Bee

Ellie has a favorite toy at 3 months old. It is the Playskool Crawl and Flutter Bee my parents bought for TJ back when he was a baby. TJ liked it ok but it wasn't a favorite of his. Ellie on the other hand ADORES this toy. Her face lights up and she stares intently at it as it plays it cute little tunes and makes funny noises.

The other day as I was sitting at the table with her playing with the bee... I decided to try and get some pics of her smiling at it. As you can see below.. she was NOT cooperating!

Here she is staring at it:
Really mom... more pics of me?? How BORING... YAWN...
What are YOU looking at?
SUCCESS!! A SMILE!!!
All during this "photo shoot" she was cooing and "talking" to it, and just having a blast! She was making mommy and brother giggle at her silly antics! :)

Brother wanted to get in on the pictures, so here is his with his sissy :)
*SIGH* Aren't they too stinkin' cute?

They both are growing up so fast! TJ is going to start kindergarten on Sept 7th and Ellie is going to be 4 months old! She is getting so chubby and looks more and more like TJ's baby pictures when he was her age! She has cute little "rolls" all over and the chubbiest cheeks! She is such a good baby and loves to shower you with smiles!

I wish there was a way to slow down time! I thought it went by fast after having TJ but now with TWO kids it seems to fly by even faster! :( Stop growing so fast you two!
